Ricky Cuenca, ANCOP President/CEO accompanied by Peachy
Forbes, ANCOP Volunteer presented Gawad Kalinga and Kalinga Leyte development
model to the Ministry Officers. Those attending from the Ontario Ministry of
Citizenship and Immigration are: Deputy Minister Joan Andrew, Director Rachele
Dabraio, Manager Brian Beattie, Minister’s Office Events Coordinator/MPP Liaison
Bryan Grimes and Executive Assistant to Minister Lewis Chan. The meeting with
the Ministry was arranged by Toronto Consul General Alex Mosquera with Bryan
Grimes, Minister’s Office Events Coordinator.
When Bryan Grimes consulted the Consul General for an organization to receive
the Leyte mudslide assistance from the Ministry, ANCOP-GK was the organization
that first came to the Consul General mind.
Practical questions were raised for verification and validity after the video
presentations on ANCOP GK and Kalinga Leyte. There was great interest on GK as
shown in the series of questions posed and in the enthusiasm shown by officials
present in the meeting.
After the question period, the Ministry officials went on caucus asking Ricky
and Peachy to stay for a couple of minutes. The Ministry donation of $200,000
was immediately announced and shown in a letter from Minister Mike Colle to
Ricky Cuenca after the caucus of officers. Their comments were “
Congratulations, the GK project is impressive and empowering.”
Bryan Grimes and Lewis Chan asked to arrange a public event with ANCOP Canada
where Minister Colle can hand the check to ANCOP Canada representatives. The
Ministry will coordinate the publication of the donation in major Canadian
newspapers. Ricky invited the Ministry officers to participate in the Wow Na WOW
GK concert and exhibit scheduled in April 30, 2006.
The first grant assistance of $200,000 from the Ontario government came swiftly
and smoothly in a flawless process showing the Hand and the presence of the Holy
Spirit.
With the concrete success of this first government grant assistance, ANCOP-GK
volunteers are encouraged to brave community events linking with private,
government and civil society leaders/contacts across Canada. The message from
the ANCOP President/CEO Ricky Cuenca beams with pride: “Allow the Holy Spirit to
use you as His instrument in promoting greater awareness and support for ANCOP-GK
and Kalinga Leyte.
Ricky says, “Be brave. We are all anointed. The Lord is with you and GK.”
